How to Prepare for the Use of Formula (HTML) Fields in the 2023.2 Release

Written by: Bella Tran

Are you ready for the upcoming changes in NetSuite's 2023.2 release?

One important update to be aware of is the handling of Formula (Text) fields that contain HTML code. In order to improve security, these fields will now display results in plain text. But don't worry, there's a solution! NetSuite introduces the Formula (HTML) field to evaluate HTML code within a saved search. In this blog post, we will guide you through the steps to prepare for the use of Formula (HTML) fields in the 2023.2 release.

Step 1: Check Your Saved Searches

To ensure a smooth transition, it's crucial to identify the saved searches in your account that currently contain code in Formula (Text) fields. To do this, go to Lists > Search > Saved Searches with HTML in Formula (Text).

This list will provide you with an overview of the affected searches in your account.

Step 2: Understand Formula (HTML) Field Usage

Formula (HTML) fields can be used as results fields within saved searches. However, it's important to note that they are only available to users with the "Create HTML Formulas in Search" permission. This permission is initially assigned to roles with Create level access for the SuiteScript permission and Full level access for the Perform Search permission. If necessary, you can manually enable this permission for other users on the Role page in the Setup subtab of the Permissions tab.

Step 3: Update Your Saved Searches

By following these steps, you can effectively prepare for the use of Formula (HTML) fields in the 2023.2 release of NetSuite. This update will enhance the security and functionality of your saved searches, allowing for better control and evaluation of HTML code. Stay ahead of the curve and ensure a seamless transition for your organization.
