The starting point in answering this question is simple.
How many Assets do you manage currently, and how many people are dedicated to managing them?
As a module, NetSuite Fixed Assets is fine but it is definitely designed for the bigger and most complex Fixed Asset use case. The module provides a rich feature set but is arguably complete over kill for most SME businesses.
The alternative is a more simple ‘ER Fixed Asset’ solution incorporating the basic features of buying an asset, administrating and depreciating that asset, and disposing of an asset. You’ll only have the choice of 1 depreciation method ‘straight-line’ and you’ll have to use a ‘like excel’ approach to using it. Although the feature set is limited, it’s light, fast, easy to use and cheap!
